Barry Reich received his education first at The Breed Yeshiva in Los Angeles and later attended the Ross McKee Conservatory of Music and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, receiving a Bachelor of Music degree. At 21 he was selected and mentored by Edgar Braun, director and conductor of The *San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, to be the soloist in the Chamber Orchestra’s west coast premier performance of Ernst Bloch’s Israel Symphony

From 1977 to 1983 Barry worked for the United States Navy serving as Music/Band director of Treasure Island. In 1979 he received his Hazzan Ordination from the Cantors Assembly of the Jewish Theological Seminary. Barry has produced and recorded 2 Cantorial CDs and a 3rd cd of his 4 part choral compositions. In August 2007, Cantor Reich received his Rabbinic Ordination or Semicha.

On September 30, 2017, Barry completed his 50th High Holiday season as Cantor of Peninsula Temple Sholom in Burlingame California. Barry has been the Education Director of Congregation B’nai Emunah in San Francisco since 2018. He has two daughters Rona Rachel Reich and Bonnie Shaina Reich. He is a member of the Cantors Assembly
